Petra Tilos was designed by a voluntary local group that wanted to make the art of drystone, accessible to the community and especially to young people.
The project and its activities are implemented participatorily, by the community of Tilos for the community of Tilos, but also for all those visitors who may be interested in the traditional techniques of dry stone masonry.
Petra team, during winter months, since November 2023, hosts (almost) weekly open meetings where all members of the local community can join to discuss ideas, thoughts, and take on an active role in the next steps of the project.
During the preparation of "Dry stone school 2024" more than 10 meetings were held and during that time, all the events of the March/April 2024 period, were discussed and designed collectivly. The meetings are taking place in Petra Tilos HQ in Megalo Chorio.

Petra Tilos core team consists of people from Tilos (locals and semi-locals) who coordinate the project, open the space and invite members of the local community to actively participate in the design, planning and implementation of every next step. The project develops according to the needs and the energy of the community around it.
Petra Tilos is a project that aims to the sustainable environmental, social and cultural development of Tilos.

Petra Tilos is implemented by the community of Tilos in collaboration with the COMM'ON NGO and the Tilos Athletic Association. It is supported by the Municipality of Tilos and Blue Star Ferries.
For the period October 2023 - March 2024, our activities were implemented with the donation of the Athena I. Martinou Foundation within the framework of the "Support Points" program co-financed by 10 non-profit organizations.
